I was born in Leicester and grew up in Melton Mowbray. My parents still live in Melton, and I’m a regular visitor to the area. I left Melton to go to university and then eventually settled in Basingstoke.
I’ve been a Borough Councillor in Basingstoke for the past five years. In May 2023, I became Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning & Infrastructure in the borough – part of the first Lib Dem Cabinet in Basingstoke for 17 years. Part of my role is to prepare the next Local Plan – a challenge that Melton Borough Council also faces. It’s absolutely vital that we get this right, and we balance the need for more affordable, high quality and environmentally sustainable homes with the desire to protect our beautiful countryside.
I’m also a dad of two, a school governor and a mentor for the Prince’s Trust. I enjoy football and travelling.
As a Liberal Democrat, I believe in putting people first and helping them to achieve their potential - so that we can all achieve what we want to in life. I see first-hand the damage that the Conservatives have done to our education system and the impact that’s having on young people. I know that getting a GP appointment in Melton and System is incredibly hard, and waiting times for ambulances are putting lives at risk. We must invest properly in our public services.
I believe we need to work harder to protect the environment. Conservative policy on climate change is going backwards and they’re letting water companies get away with dumping sewage in our precious waterways. Labour is also wavering on its promises. We need to take the lead.
I believe in finding better ways of doing things – having the vision and the energy to look for creative ideas to solve our area's problems.
To make this happen, I want to make sure that your voice is heard and to fight your corner in Parliament. I want to help build a stronger community that looks after everyone – especially those most in need – because we can do so much more when we join together. And I want to give you the opportunity and the freedom to shape your future. Interested in finding out more? Then get in touch. And let’s work together to make our bit of Leicestershire an even better place to live and work.
Let’s make it happen!
