A letter in one of the local papers from the Chief Fire Officer has added to the confusion over plans for Wirral Fire Stations. In the letter he started off by saying that West Kirby Fire station would not close then said (twice!) that it would. There seems to be some hope for Upton Fire Station. If a suitable site cannot be found in Greasby then Upton will stay open and West Kirby Fire Station will close. He said that Heswall Fire Station would stay open, but the original report last year said that the Heswall site was "commercially attractive" and that they might "relocate services".
