The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.
Network Rail has been made to pay for damage it caused to local grass verges in Stewartby after a local Councillor intervened. Councillor Tim Hill, Liberal Democrat Borough Councillor for Stewartby, got on to the case and after the Council's insurance company got involved Network rail agreed to pay for the damages. The Council has now installed a lay-by so that workers can park in future without causing damage to the verges adjacent to the railway line running through the village.
Two large leisure schemes in Trowbridge are going through the planning process at the moment. Despite what the developers may say its extremely unlikely they'll both go ahead. But which one would the people of the town and surrounding area prefer?

So it should be of interest that there is an inquiry currently under way investigating whether the press in Britain should be more highly controlled, after it appeared that some individuals working at the News of the World had broken the law, intercepting the voicemails of apparently hundreds of individuals including royalty, politicians, sports stars and celebrities, as well as apparently a murder victim, in order to find stories to sell in its newspapers.
