Quarry Swimming Pool Survey Results
Following reports that the Quarry Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre was going to be sold and a new facility built at Sundorne Sports Village, Shrewsbury and Atcham Liberal Democrats wanted to find out what people thought of these plans. We circulated an on-line survey to find out how people would be affected, with the hope that future decisions by Shropshire Council would take people's views into account. It is clear from the survey that moving the pool would be very unpopular. It is also clear that it would severely limit access to swimming facilities for a significant number of regular pool users. We believe that people of Shrewsbury are best served by a swimming pool in the Town Centre, and we hope that Shropshire Council will direct its efforts towards finding a way to keep the swimming pool in the Quarry

Petition to save Library submitted
LIBERAL DEMOCRAT Councillors have handed in a petition-signed by hundreds of residents-calling on the County Council to withdraw their planned changes to Barwell Library. Proposed changes would see the County Council no longer fund the library and it be staffed by volunteers rather than professional librarians.
