Liberal Democrat Farming Spokesperson Tim Farron MP has urged South Lakeland farmers to continue vaccinating their sheep and cattle against bluetongue after the NFU warned that the actions of some livestock farmers could place the country at risk from further outbreaks of the disease.

Farron calls for fewer tests for children following SATS boycott by South Lakeland schools
South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has called for SATS to be scaled back in favour of more teacher assessment following the news that hundreds of children in South Lakeland will miss their National Tests after nine head teachers in Lake District primary schools declared their intention to boycott the exams.

Thursday night was a disappointment for the Liberal Democrats both nationally and locally; however this was probably felt by all the main parties, there being no overall winner in Westminster. A graphic demonstration of how dysfunctional our electoral system is with us gaining votes but losing seats, 23% of the vote getting us a mere 9% of the seats.
