The overcrowding crisis in Britain's prisons means that the Government has been forced to house prisoners in court cells at greater expense than if they had booked them luxury rooms at the Ritz, the Liberal Democrats have revealed. Figures from parliamentary questions show that prisoners have spent the night in court cells on 77 occasions this year at a cost of more than £1800 per night - more than a deluxe suite at the Ritz.
A dog hunt is underway across Folkestone after a Patterdale Terrier disappeared from its home in Acrise, near Folkestone. The owners have sent out an email across the area appealing for local people to help them find Bracken and are offering a cash reward.

40 Liberal Democrats were elected to Chelmsford Borough Council and Great Baddow and Writtle Parish Councils on 3rd May. Most of those councillors plus their helpers came together to mark their election success at a post-election celebration. The Liberal Democrats were the ONLY party to have more seats in Chelmsford after the 3rd May elections than before.
