Lynne Beaumont has welcomed the news that the Folkestone Leas Lift is to be renovated and re-opened this summer. Lynne was present at the official ceremony this morning to hand the keys to the contractors who will be renovating and repairing the lift prior to a hoped for re-opening in June.
Following on from the corruption scandal involving BAE and arms in the Middle East the Conservatives have put down more than 20 amendments to proposed legislation from the Ministry of Justice. Currently this proposed legislation has been receiving cross-party support.
Almost a third of tax credit payments have been for the wrong amount, figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats have revealed. More than 2m families have been repeatedly overpaid in the 5 years since tax credits were introduced, answers to Parliamentary Questions show. The number of families repeatedly underpaid was up 42% to almost 1m over the same period. A staggering 50,000 families have been taken to court in pursuit of overpayments in the last three years.
I'm sure you've seen the news by now. Gordon Brown has finally announced the General Election will be held on May 6th.
With a General Election confirmed for just over four weeks' time, Liberal Democrats in Chelmsford are looking forward to the campaign.
