The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.
Rochdale Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability - Councillor Wera Hobhouse has praised the Council's reaction to the flooding caused by the adverse weather conditions. The Council, local Councillors and Paul Rowen MP's Office were deluged with complaints of flooding from the Littleborough area. They promptly despatched street teams to visit the areas affected including Redlands Close and surrounding roads in Littleborough to help offer residents and offer any practical assistance that maybe required. There were also problems in other areas of Rochdale including the junction of Mellor Street and Bury Road and Maclure Road.
Being instrumental in bringing about improvements to the area you represent is the chief desire of most councillors I guess. Some challenges are more long term, however, like road safety improvements at Summit, Littleborough where traffic islands are yet to be installed to augment the work already done.
Rochdale Borough Council's Environment Boss - Lib Dem Councillor Wera Hobhouse has ruled out microchips in wheelie bins in the Rochdale Borough. Following a question from Councillors at last weeks Middleton Township meeting Wera said, "I can reassure the people of this Borough that we haven't introduced chips to our wheelie bins and there are no plans by this Council to do so in the foreseeable future.
