The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.
Local MP Tim Farron has written to the owners of the Sedbergh Auction Mart site following concerns that they may be considering selling the site to developers. In his letter to CCM Auctions, Tim wrote:
Local MP Tim Farron last week presented cheques for over £1,300 to two local charities. The money, raised from Tim's triathlon in the spring, was presented to the New Holehird charity and the North West Cancer Research Fund.
Cats Protection is urgently appealing for funds to help cope with the vast numbers of kittens that the charity expects to take in during the rest of the summer and early autumn. With up to 7,000 cats in care at any time, this means many cats in Kent will be in care this autumn.
Recent news that leaked email messages have revealed that the government's plans to introduce ID cards by 2008 cannot be met has led Dundee Liberal Democrat local party Convener, Raymond Lawrie, to today (Tuesday 1st August) call for the ID cards project to be finally rejected.
The final full Surrey County Council meeting before the summer break saw the Liberal Democrat Group call on the Tories to take urgent action to reduce Surrey's impact on climate change, publishing a plan by the end of 2006.
