South Lakes MP Tim Farron this week visited the Helme Chase Pharmacy in Kendal to receive his flu jab to launch a campaign to encourage people who are either at risk, or who come into contact with at risk groups, to ensure they do the same to protect themselves and others against the harmful virus this winter.

Farron calls for protection for small businesses in new building maintenance arrangements
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called on Cumbria County Council to ensure that small businesses do not lose out under changes to the Council's process for managing building maintenance contracts. The changes will primarily affect firms who currently carry out Council work in roofing, joinery, plastering, and decorating, heating, plumbing and electrical services repairs.

Councillors welcome Post Office success
Councillors in Hinckley and Bosworth have welcomed news that the Post Office has won the DVLA contract to continue issuing driving licenses and car tax discs. Post Offices had the contract to issue driving licenses and car tax discs, but the contract was under review with payments network PayPoint challenging the Post Office for the contract.
