A Unite/Mori student survey carried out in January 2004 on voting intentions gives the Lib Dems a leading share of 34%, with Labour on 28% and the Tories third on 19%. Stone Liberal Democrats are celebrating resounding successes in coming within inches of toppling the Tories in the St. Michael's ward by-elections. Richard Stevens and Derek Boult both leapt into second place - Richard was only 55 votes adrift in the Borough Council election and Derek was only 36 votes behind in the Town Council election.
