Liberal Democrats in Scarborough have given their backing to plans for investment in green schemes that will make homes warmer, cut energy bills and improve public transport. The plans, called Green Road out of Recession, were announced on by Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg MP.
Recently I was fortunate to have supported my wife during the birth of our baby son at Rochdale Infirmary's maternity Unit. As you can imagine, for a first time mother it was a nerve racking time for her, but all the staff that she and I encountered at the unit gave her the highest standard of care.
A missing "Give Way" sign in North Road at the junction with Military Road has been reported by Cheriton Town and District Councillor Tim Prater to Kent Highways. With no warning of the junction and poor road markings, drivers who don't know the area could miss that they are joining a busy road and do not have priority.
On a regular check of streetlights in Cheriton, Folkestone, Councillor Tim Prater has found and reported over 30 broken street lights and lit road bollards. Amongst others, there were lights out of action in Military Road, Church Road, Royal Military Avenue, Naseby Road, Fairfax Close, Cheriton High Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Roman Way and Horn Street.
Thanks to insistent campaigning by Wolverhampton's Liberal Democrat Councillors and campaigners kerbside collections of plastic bottles, cardboard, garden waste and other recyclables are collected across the city each fortnight. Under the previous Labour regime there were no plans to introduce the collection of plastic bottles or cardboard.
Transport for London (TfL) have announced that on Monday 9th February 2009 they intend to start modernising the traffic light equipment at the intersection of Leatherhead Road with Rushett Lane and Fairoak Lane.
