South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today welcomed the draft decision by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to improve the treatment available to Alzheimer's patients in all stages of the disease. The latest draft guidelines issued by NICE recommend that people with Alzheimer's should have unrestricted access to four available drug treatments on the NHS.
North East Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP, Alison McInnes, has supported local businesses who are outraged at the Scottish Government for offering no respite to businesses whose rates have risen substantially.
Lib Dem Tim Prater has lobbied the Government on Business Rates. At the recent Lib Dem conference, Tim spoke with Government Minister Andrew Stunell. He asked him to return the control of Business Rates to local councils. Currently the rates paid by businesses are collected by local councils and then forwarded on to the Government. Some money is then returned to the local councils.
The North Heaton Lib Dem FOCUS Team - KAREN, DOREEN, and GREG - have welcomed the results of the council's independently-researched 2010 Residents Survey which showed our area as one of the most satisfied areas of the city. Hundreds of residents from all 26 wards in the city took part in the study. For some reason wards with Lib Dem councillors performed significantly better than ones with Labour councillors!
Liberal Democrat and Conservative councillors have joined forces to call for a special meeting of Epsom & Ewell Borough Council to consider the closure of Public Toilets. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in Epsom Town Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday 2nd November.
