Shepway District Council have sent out details of a series of planning applications by Tesco for their proposed new "Tesco Express" store on Cheriton High Street. The planning applications are for a new shopfront and other shop fittings, and a new cash till and security bollards in front of the store.
Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed the government announcement that they will provide funding for free school meals for children in their first three years at school. Although some children already qualify for school meals, some do not take them due to the stigma, and others who don't qualify struggle to afford them. Research has shown that extending free school meals to all children will help remove these barriers.
Canterbury and Coastal Liberal Democrats have confirmed that Simon Hughes MP will be the special guest speaker at their annual lunch on Sunday 20 October.
