Political Head of Highways at Essex County Council Rodney Bass has decided to change the zebra crossing in Victoria Road South to a signal-controlled puffin crossing. Cllr Keith Francis for the Liberal Democrats has attacked the decision and sought to overturn it because of the delay, threat to safety and inconvenience for pedestrians.
Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Sunday 12th November) backed the comments of Sir Menzies Campbell, Liberal Democrat Leader, on the situation in Iraq. Locally, LibDem party secretary Michael Charlton said, "The government's position on the dreadful situation in Iraq is simply unsustainable."

Following a long campaign led by Robin Lawrence and the Liberal Democrat Focus Team, Wolverhampton Council has decided to introduce a grant for new parents wishing to use washable nappies. Supported by West Midlands MEP Liz Lynne, Robin first raised this issue with the Council in 2004. Robin said "Thanks to our campaign and encouragement from other green campaigners, Wolverhampton Council has decided to make it easier for new parents to make the green switch to washable nappies. All of my children have used washables and I encourage other Park parents to take advantage of the council's £30 to switch to sustainable nappies too."
Today Suzanne Fletcher celebrates the 25th anniversary of her election to Stockton Council. On November 12th 1981 she drove a thin orange wedge into the red/blue comfort zone of Stockton Town Hall, winning the Elm Tree ward by-election.
