McArthur slams SNP over student support shortfall

Figures published today by the Scottish Funding Council show the extent of unmet demand for student bursaries. Colleges asked for £14.7m to meet demand from students but will receive only £3.5m. Five colleges which requested support will receive no funding.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called on hospital bosses to publicly confirm that changes to staffing at Kendal's Helme Chase maternity unit are only temporary. Tim said it would be 'intolerable for local mums' for this to continue as a long term solution.

Bedford's Traditional Christmas Fair is Underway!

Bedford Town Centre's big Christmas Fair is underway, and continues through the weekend until Sunday 14th December. The fair offers visitors the chance to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Christmas with stalls throughout the heart of the Town Centre selling an array of seasonal gifts, foods and treats. Throughout the fair's three days there will also be an array of madcap seasonal street entertainment, music and shows that are filled with fun characters.
