At the launch of the Poppy Appeal, in its 90th year, 5 veterans each aged 90, represented the brave people who gave their lives for our freedom. After a moving ceremony and where the military history of the 5 veterans were read out, schoolchildren presented each of the 5 with the first poppies of the year. 5 young servicemen and women also received their poppies - the picture of young and old standing together was a strong image.
