MP holds local post office summit

Local MP Tim Farron is continuing his campaign to ensure the future of local sub post offices. Tim has arranged for his second meeting with sub post-office masters and mistresses to be held in May. Since the last meeting Tim has been hard at work on many of the suggestions made by attendees and hopes that this second meeting will provide a more up-to-date picture of the problems local sub post-office masters and mistresses are facing.

Campbell wins praise from Greenpeace and WWF for green speech

Greenpeace's Executive Director Stephen Tindale says of Ming's latest environment speech: "Ming Campbell has set the gold standard for green speeches". Speaking in response to the Lib Dem Leader's keynote speech on the environment in Norwich, he said Greenpeace endorsed Ming's challenge to the other parties, adding, "there's too much talk from New Labour and not yet enough substance from the Conservatives."

Hypocritical Cameron has shoe chauffeur - so much for Tories going green

Tory leader David Cameron has a shoe chauffeur, who carries his shoes and papers in his chauffeur-driven Lexus from his home to Westminster while Mr Cameron cycles. Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said: "This makes a nonsense of David Cameron's commitment to cycling as the most environmentally friendly way of getting to work. If every one with green leanings now needs a shoe chauffeur the environment will be ruined. "As a matter of urgency, I will personally buy and deliver to Mr Cameron a pannier for him to put over his back wheels so that he can cycle to work while leaving his shoe chauffeur at home."

New state-of-the-art Recycling Centre

At the Bursom Recycling Centre, which now has been officially opened, household refuse is separated into metals for recycling, organic material for composting, and paper and plastics for fuel. The hi-tech process means that around 75% of the contents of the city's wheelie bins can be recycled.
