Lib Dems condemn “chaotic and incompetent” budget
The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.
At Essex County Council yesterday, attention was drawn to the cuts in Essex Police Officers and PCSOs, and rising crime. A motion from the Liberal Democrats to the Full Council meeting noted a cut in officers since 2010 of 650, rising drug and violence-related crimes, and that Essex Police is the second-lowest funded police force in the country.
The Bedford Sports Awards has become a key date in the local sporting calendar, with athletes, coaches and clubs all gathered to celebrate the dedication, hard work and successes over the year.
Along with potential cuts affecting a range of services across the county, Surrey County Council are considering the closure of the Recycling Centre in Lyne, Chertsey. This is a busy tip which serves Chertsey, Egham, Virginia Water & surrounding areas. Since charges for domestic DIY rubbish were introduced and then closure of the site 2 days a week there has been a marked increase in fly tipping in this area. Fly tipped rubbish is cleared up by Runnymede Borough Council at a cost to us the tax payer. Closure of the tip, the only Reccyling Centre in Runnymede, will result in more fly tipping as well as an increase of traffic as people journey to other recycling centres such as Martyrs Lane in Woking and Charlton, Shepperton, which already have long queues. We must fight for the centre to remain open to keep this important facility. Please support saving the Centre by signing and sharing the petition. Many Thanks https://www.change.org/p/surrey-county-council-save-lyne-recycling-centre?recruiter=206635011&a
