Farron calls on government on condemn actions of dairy processors

South Lakes MP, Tim Farron, has used questions to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the House of Commons this morning to call on the Government to take immediate action to help dairy farmers, many of whom have been hit with a second unfair price cut in as many months.

Making a Commitment to Our Armed Forces Community

Armed Forces Day took place at the weekend, and it was marked in usual fitting style here in Bedford with a parade through town on Sunday, and then on Monday morning at Borough Hall with a Flag Raising ceremony. The Standard Bearers did a fine job as always, and it was once again an honour for me to 'inspect the standards,' which you can see pictured here. Following the flag raising, a ceremony was held for the signing of the Bedford Borough Armed Forces Community Covenant.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron, Staveley in Cartmel Councillor Sue Sanderson and Cumbria County Councillor Rod Wilson have today welcomed the news that planning permission has been given for new development to complete the Backbarrow Ironworks scheme and have heralded the news as a 'win for the community and for the protection of such an important historical site'.
