Local MP Tim Farron has called on the Government to deliver high speed broadband for the whole of South Lakeland after the Prime Minster confirmed that between 5% and 10% of British homes would be left without access to higher speed broadband. The problem being that those will be homes in rural areas such as South Lakeland. Mr Farron has been campaigning for high-speed broadband for black spots in rural communities like Old Hutton in South Lakeland.
Local MP Tim Farron today spoke out in Parliament in defence of people in Cumbria living with dementia. Speaking in the debate this afternoon Tim raised the fact that while an additional £1.5million has been given to NHS Cumbria to support people with dementia and their carers, there was as yet no tangible evidence of additional services being provided with that money.
Speaking in Parliament this morning, South Lakes MP Tim Farron today welcomed the Government's u-turn on EU funding for dairy farmers, after Minister Jim Fitzpatrick confirmed that the Government had accepted £25 million in emergency funding following lobbying from the Liberal Democrat Rural Affairs Spokesman over many months .
