Eaglescliffe Lib Dem councillors have welcomed the installation of the flashing red signal at Allen's West level crossing. As Alan Lewis explained on BBC Tees radio yesterday, this is the 2nd of 3 improvements to safety, particularly aimed at protecting children. The "Wiltshire Online" Programme aims to bring superfast broadband to homes and businesses across the county. At present, not all parts of Wiltshire have access to broadband and those that do may experience slow speeds and poor service. This means that residents and businesses in the county struggle to make full use of the internet and online services. Poor broadband services are seen as a major obstacle to sustained economic growth and investment in the county.
We're just two days away from the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Bedford Borough. At 9.32am on Sunday morning (yes, the scheduling really is intended to be that precise!), the torch is due to set off from Goldington Green, from where it will travel down Barkers Lane, briefly stopping off at Bedford International Athletics Stadium. It will then continue to the Embankment, across Town Bridge, down London Road and finish on Harrowden Road at 10.48am. It will then be taken to Cotton End where it will arrive at High Road at 10.52am and travel through Cotton End before leaving the borough.
