Police are going to start a speed enforcement campaign in the villages of Marton and Worthen after numerous complaints by residents and their Shropshire Councillor - Heather Kidd. Heather said "Both villages have straight stretches of road running through them and this encourages the responsible few to drive at speed. We have even had instances of lorries passing Worthen school at 50mph. "With the support of local residents and the two parish councils, I have persuaded Shropshire Council to place a number of signs to remind motorists including a number of new ones in Marton the other week. Our local police are now going to run a number of enforcement sessions in both villages."
