Farron re-elected Chair of Parliamentary Hill Farming Group

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron, today was re-elected chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming. The group also revealed plans to launch a survey to all of Britain's hill farmers, including hundreds in Cumbria, to review to recent changes in funding, which aimed to improve the quality of life for Hill Farmers across the South Lakes.

Lib Dems call for a realistic refund scheme to fix the Conservative Car Park Charges cock-up

Wiltshire's Liberal Democrats have branded the Conservatives' proposed car parking refund scheme as "too little too late". Few details of the scheme, which is still months away from being introduced, are known. However, the 'cabinet' member for Highways and Transport, Dick Tonge is on record as suggesting that refunds for parking would be issued if £30 or more was spent.

Gobbledygook prizewinner announced

The 2011 prize for the finest example of council-speak has gone to Wiltshire Council finance officer Michael Hudson. In a report to the WC cabinet setting out the final accounts for the 2010/11 financial year Mr Hudson announced that as a result of a VAT rebate the balance was in credit and there was some spare money.
