Liberal Democrat district councillors are bidding for extra funds for youth projects in the district. They will be asking for additional funding to be allocated to the Grant Aid budget ring-fenced for work with young people. Proposed by Cllr Ann Haigh (Buckhurst Hill) it was supported by Cllr Janet Whitehouse (Epping).

Dundee Liberal Democrats have signed up to the new "Just Ask" campaign by national charity Parentline Plus - in a bid to remove the stigma of seeking out parenting support. The campaign will be used to lobby government, people working with families, and parents to 'normalise' parent support.
Dundee City Council Convener of Finance Cllr Fraser Macpherson today (12th February 2006) said the Dundee SNP had spun itself into a mess over the decision by the City Council to postpone the setting of the 2006/07 Council Tax until Monday 13th February.
Amongst the cuts in Surrey County Council front line services proposed by the Conservatives' "BDR review" is the closure of the local libraries, at Bagshot, Caterham Hill, Ewell Court, Hersham, New Haw and Virginia Water. The decision will be taken at the County Council meeting on 11th April. If it is agreed to go ahead, the libraries will be closed from September 2006. County Councillor Diana Smith, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Community Services. said: "It makes no sense to close these popular facilities, especially as the BDR itself admits that the aim is not to save money, only to meet a CPA target imposed by the Labour government."
