Labour's Tax Bombshell

If you earn between about £5,400 to £16,000 a year, you will notice a tax increase in your pay packet in April. This is because the 10% income tax band has been doubled to 20% by the Labour Government, in a change announced by Gordon Brown last year but only brought into force this month. This extra tax is being used to cut taxes on higher earners.

Spam, Spam, Spam... Briddock Warns Gmail Account Users to Change Passwords

Following two recent spam email messages which seem to have been sent from members of the Liberal Democrats, local computer engineer Darren Briddock is warning that there seems to be a spate of spam emails coming from Gmail accounts, and is advising Gmail users to make sure they have changed their password recently.

LIB DEMS CONDEMN TORY "PENNY PINCHING" ON SCHOOL CLOTHING

Liberal Democrats on North Yorkshire County Council have announced their intention to "call-in" the Council's decision to freeze the level of the school clothing allowance at £60 a year. This means that the decision will be sent back to a committee to be looked at again.

Plastic Bag Campaign Gathers Momentum

Epsom & Ewell Liberal Democrats' campaign to make Epsom and Ewell a plastic bag free borough gathered momentum on Sunday 6th April. Despite appalling weather conditions, nearly 1000 leaflets were handed out to shoppers in Epsom Market Place while the Farmers' Market was in full swing.

Conservatives vote for higher taxes

Liberal Democrat councillors proposed a council budget which would have increased the district council's share of the tax bill by just 0.6%, but were overruled by the Conservative majority which pushed through a 2.5% increase instead.
