        The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.

The Audit Commission's findings in Epsom & Ewell Borough Council for the year 2005/6 have now been published. The Commission was clearly unhappy with performance on recycling and street cleansing. Jonathan Lees, Leader of the Opposition and Councillor for Stamford Ward issued the following statement :

        Local MP Tim Farron is this morning cycling to work as part of Sustrans' Change Your World campaign. Tim has also supported the campaign, which aims to highlight the impact on our environment made by short car journeys, by proposing an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons.
