COUNCILLOR PAID £13,000 FOR CHAIRING 4 PUBLIC MEETINGS

Research by Shropshire Lib Dem Councillors have discovered that the Council has spent a total of £67,165 since the Council Elections held in May 2013 on allowances for the 5 Chairs of Scrutiny Panels who have met, in public on average, only 6 times each. One has only chaired 4 meetings (and cancelled 7), that's £3358 per meeting.

Update from Tim Hill, Local Cllr for Elstow and Stewartby Ward

Elstow Bunyans Mead Residents Meeting - Residents have several concerns relating to Borough and BPHA responsibilities. The BPHA Warden invited Cllr Tim Hill and several reps from BPHA to a residents meeting to discuss these concerns. About 20 residents attended and lots of issues were raised. BPHA has now accepted it is responsible for maintenance of the pedestrianised area. Tim has also reported to BPHA residents issues on overgrown trees and street lights not working.

Funding Boost for Energy Saving Projects

Community groups are invited to apply to the Climate Change Fund for match funding of between £5,000 and £20,000 to fund measures that will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions within Bedford Borough.
