Government failing to hit targets as Carbon Dioxide emissions fall by just 0.1%
Greenhouse gas emissions fell by 0.5% in the UK last year, new figures showed today. The figures, released by Defra, showed that carbon dioxide levels, which make up about 85% of the UK's total greenhouse gas emissions, stayed virtually the same, with a 0.1% fall.

"British meat should be labelled as British" - Farron tells Minister
Liberal Democrat spokesman for the countryside and MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron used DEFRA questions in the House of Commons today to press Ministers to make it illegal to label as British anything other than meat produced entirely in Britain.

Local MP celebrates the work of the Land Girls - and encourages local Land Girls to come forward to collect their badge
Earlier this week DEFRA made available badges to surviving members of the Land Girls, to recognise their achievements. Today, Local MP Tim Farron posted an Early Day Motion, encouraging fellow Members of Parliament to recognise the achievements of the Land Girls, known officially as the Women's Land Army, and their role in Britain's survival through two world wars.

Action to Protect Council Land from Unauthorised Encampments Moves a Step Closer as Cabinet Approves Lib Dem Proposal
Efforts to reduce the problems caused by unauthorised gypsy and traveller encampments in Bedford Borough have been boosted after the Liberal Democrat proposal to fund schemes to protect vulnerable open spaces to the was included in the Cabinet's budget. The Lib Dems made this proposal to the council's Corporate and Resource Committee in November last year.
