Empty Homes Officer Appointed

Wiltshire Council have appointed an Empty Homes Officer after a long Lib Dem Campaign. This new post will focus on getting the thousands of long-term empty homes in Wiltshire back onto the market. This officer should be able to immediately take some of the pressure off the desperate need for new housing in the County.

Wiltshire Council is still being hit hard as a result of its own miscalculations over car parking charges, with a report to next week's 'cabinet' revealing that there is a one and a half million pound shortfall on the latest budget estimates.

Kent and Academies: An update from Paul Carter

Paul Carter, Conservative Leader of Kent County Council, has refuted suggestions in the press that KCC would like to see all Kent schools convert to academies. He made a statement in July 2011 saying that Kent did not want to see all schools change to academies.
