Theresa May's honeymoon as Prime Minister is over in this region as the Lib Dems win two seats at the expense of the Tories. In Northampton, veteran campaigner Brian Markham seized the Westone Ward from the Tories gaining 583 votes compared to the Tories 319. This represents a huge 33% swing to the Lib Dems compared to 2015.

Local bus cuts completely unacceptable, say Lib Dems
Milnrow and Newhey Councillor Andy Kelly has slammed First Buses' decision to dramatically reduce the 182 bus service. All off peak bus services, currently every half hour will be axed under controversial measures. Andy Kelly is now seeking a meeting with First Buses to discuss their proposals.
