The Pressures of being a Parliamentary Candidate

It is with a sad, and heavy, heart that yesterday I heard of Sarah Yong's decision to stand down as PPC for Somerton and Frome for personal reasons. What is even sadder is that people are demanding to know the personal reasons, either because the privacy of an individual is less important than what this means to the party or to show it's not because of the party prospects. If an employee (even CEO) of an organisation stepped down for personal reasons it is normally respected and the organisation moves on.

Ouseburn Fuming As Council Botches Bin Day

Residents of many parts of Heaton, Shieldfield and Battlefield have been left fuming, after the Council failed to collect their bins on July 10th because of a public sector strike. The 'alternate weekly collection' system means that the bins will not now be collected until July 24, four weeks after the previous collection."

We say end over 65s PIP assessments

DR UK calls for end to automatic PIP assessment for over 65s Disability Rights UK, along with Age UK and Parkinson's UK, has written to the Minister for Disabled People Mike Penning calling for the DWP to abandon its plans to automatically reassess for PIP those DLA claimants who were under 65 as of 8 April 2013 but are now over 65 or will be by the time they are reassessed.
