The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.
Most people rarely give planning issues a second thought. Until that is, an application is made that directly affects them. Then they might ask "why on earth is the Council even considering such and such an application?" Answer - because by national law they HAVE to consider any legally made application. Some ask "why did/didn't the local MP allow this application to go ahead?" Answer -because an MP has no power whatsoever over Planning Applications.
I went walk about (not in the Australian Bush but along Cricklewood Broadway) last week end. It was organised by a resident group called North West Two. This group operate from the Brent Side of the Edgware Road. They are well organised and their campaign to make Cricklewood a better place to live is paying off.
David Wilshire has been forced to stand down at the next election after the Tory-supporting Daily Telegraph attacked him for abusing the House of Commons expenses system by paying for "research services" from a company he owns. He is reported as having claimed over £105k in 3 year period.

In the early 1800s the abolitionist movement recognised that all men, women and children have the right to live their lives free from bondage. They ensured that slavery in the UK would be outlawed indefinitely. However, 200 years after their success, we live in a world with a greater number of slaves than there were during the time of William Wilberforce. This fact is a stain on our society and one many people are working very hard to reverse.
Bedford Today are reporting that according to bookmakers Ladbrokes, Lib Dem candidate Dave Hodgson had edged ahead to become favourite in the race to be Bedford's new Mayor.
