Wiltshire Lib Dems have congratulated Bath and North East Somerset Council on leading the way in saving money and energy with their new LED street light system in Keynsham, near Bath, but questioned why Wiltshire Council isn't engaging in similar schemes to cut costs in our county.

Aged between 13 and 19? Creative? Fancy being published?

Salisbury based youth participation and activism project, The Unit, is launching a zine to publish young people's creative works (photographs, drawings, paintings, stories, poetry.. anything!). They are looking for submissions from people aged between 13 and 19 in Wiltshire. Work will be showcased in an A5 publication which will be available for free across the city and surrounding areas in September. The deadline for submissions is 19th August and works can be emailed to info@unitspace.org.uk or brought in to The Unit, 17 Endless Street, Salisbury.

The Low Paid Public Sector In Shropshire

When the coalition decided that public sector pay should be frozen but the low paid- those earning less than £21, 000 - should get a £250 rise, I thought that stood the fairness test in good stead. When fuel, heating and food costs are rising it is only right to protect those with a low income. In our part ofShropshireaverage pay stands at around £22,000. This puts many of those inSouth Shropshireon low incomes.
