MP welcomes news on the West Coast Main Line as offering a 'Way forward'
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today welcomed the news that Virgin Rail has been given the green light to run the West Coast main line for at least another nine months after its current franchise ends. Tim has welcomed this news as 'a way forward to try and end the saga'.

Deakin & Robinson back next steps for former school in Chelmsford to be community centre
The plan to secure a major community facility for north Chelmsford took a few more steps forwards this last week. Cllrs. Stephen Robinson and Jude Deakin attended a number of meetings and spoke to a number of the key players in order to secure a future for the former St Peter's College, in Fox Crescent.

What is Land Value Tax?
Land Value Tax would be payable each year depending on the location and size of a plot. We advocate that it should replace some existing taxes. It should not add to the overall tax burden, its purpose is to shift tax away from income taxes . Land means the site alone. A vacant plot in a row of houses would be taxed the same as a similar built-on plot. It taxes the size and location of he plot. It does not tax buildings or other works.

Andrew Mitchell - He should have said nothing!!
There appears to be a lot of concentration on what he said. The fact is when asked by a Police Officer to exit a secure area via an alternative gate he should have done so. And if he felt he should say something it should have been "thank you" but really there was no need to say anything!!
