For those not up with the latest Internet jargon a blog is a web log or internet journal of someone's thoughts of the day. This month I have been keeping such a blog and topics cover a wide range of current affairs with a sporting view point as well. Here are this months list of topics :-
Tony Blair's chief fundraiser and confidant Lord Levy was arrested for a second time yesterday on suspicion of perverting the course of justice over his role in the cash for honours affair. Police are known to be following a trail of encrypted emails and electronic trails on computer hard drives as part of their 10-month inquiry.
Christine McHugh and Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have called on the council to make the leap forward needed to tackle climate change. Christine is calling for the adoption of "zero carbon growth" planning policies.
Christine McHugh and Dan Rogerson MP (Lib Dem spokesperson on Housing) met with the Chief Executive of BPHA and discussed a number of local housing issues including the need for affordable homes to help sustain rural communities.
Commenting on the Government's announcement that there will be no exemption from anti-discrimination laws for Catholic adoption agencies, Liberal Democrat Leader Menzies Campbell said: "I believe there is no place for discrimination in a liberal society. The Prime Minister's conclusion regarding the Sexual Orientation Regulation is to be welcomed. Any exemption would have undermined this principle."
DELGA is supporting a petition to the United Nations calling for the universal abolition of so-called crimes of homosexuality, sodomy laws and laws against unnatural acts of homosexuality. Lib Dem MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in the House of Commons in support of this initiative: we urge all our members and supporters to contact their MP and urge them to sign the EDM. Liberal Democrat, Labour, Conservative and Ulster Unionist MPs have already signed - so even if your local MP is not a Liberal Democrat it is still worth contacting them.
